The I Ching Is the Source for a New Human Technology.

The Chinese Book of Change, or I Ching (pronounced ‘yee jing’), is many things. It is primarily thought of as an oracle: You ask a question about the future, and it gives you an answer. However, it is really more meant to be a book of philosophy that, because of its oracular potential, is unique in that it addresses our personal experience in ways that other philosophies cannot.

I got into the I Ching because I was fascinated with change. It was amazing to me that, given a set of circumstances, a particular change could be predicted. It was as if a cycle, once initiated, could produce an expected result. Set up the circumstances correctly, and BINGO! You have what you want. Then I realized that we could affect the changes that occurred by what we did. The I Ching taught me how what I did would impact the outcome. It was like there was a cycle, but it could “roll” in any number of different directions depending on my actions and bring a unique outcome.

Finally I realized that outcomes were not based on externals but on internal parameters. I came to understand that it was my beliefs that gave birth to particular attitudes. These attitudes were at the core of my decisions and actions. These were what determined the outcome — so my beliefs and attitudes were the root cause. Change my attitudes and beliefs, and my outcomes would change. I could change the way things changed based only on internal dynamics, if I knew what they were.

If you look at the I Ching, it is very elegantly structured. There are 64 figures, called hexagrams or gua, that are given a single-word name or symbol. These figures are made up of 6 lines, either broken or solid, so that they look like little bar codes.

They were humanity’s first binary system (evolving to its current form from about 1000–200 BCE), where solid lines are “connected” or dynamic (moving) energies, and the broken lines are “disconnected” or still (unmoving) structure. While in theory it is possible to use these symbols as a computer binary code, in reality they are, in a sense, the binary code of the human consciousness.

What Is I Ching Human Technology?
I Ching Technology BoardBecause they were devised by humans, they must be a reflection of human consciousness. So it stands to reason that if we were to learn to tap this code, it may help us to connect the parts of our self that do not connect because of energy blockages whatever they are. The notion of energy blockages is not as esoteric as it may sound. An energy blockage is what causes a heart attack or a stroke. An energy blockage is at the root of muscle stiffness or soreness after unaccustomed exercise. An energy blockage is the source for digestive upset.

Similarly, an energy blockage is the source for our feelings of isolation from other people or from our own sense of purpose and personal value. Energy blockages are at the heart of any inability we display in achieving happiness, success, and fulfillment.

Thus, it stands to reason that, if we could figure out how to tap the bar code design of the I Ching, we could use that to reconnect all the parts of our self with the other parts — make our self whole. The good news is that this is possible through a new “I Ching Human Technology”.

The I Ching Human Technology is based on thirty years of research and development by the Family Systems Research Group of Portsmouth, New Hampshire. It is designed to support a natural internal reconnective process that operates on an energetic level. It can be metaphorically described as helping with the repair of short circuits and frayed wiring in our electrical system.

This feels to me like some greater part of myself (which I identify as “soul”) is being given a more prominent position in my consciousness. In I Ching terminology, it would be described as the soul “sitting on the throne of the Self” (Carol K. Anthony’s A Guide to the I Ching). It gently assists us in setting aside our fears and anxieties, our anger and hatred, in favor of a (Soul-) centered perspective that makes those feelings take up less space in our lives.

This is the way true healing works: It disrupts our relationship with troublesome elements so that we have the opportunity to live in the presence of our True Self, without reference to the troublesome element. It cuts away contact, then gently dissolves the unwanted pattern through lack of nourishment, essentially starving it out of our system.

How Does I Ching Technology Work?
The I Ching technology does this through a series of brief contacts with relevant I Ching bar code figures (hexagrams). As few as one contact may be helpful, but in many instances a series is desirable, as a deeply seated troublesome pattern is dissipated. It takes time to get used to life without the pattern, because we developed it in order to survive, so we feel safer relying on it. However, it is not safe or helpful because it is not part of the True Self matrix of who we are. It is instead a separate blocking matrix that does not allow full circulation of our natural energy through and around it. It may be seen in the aura as a dark spot, blot, or “black hole” that energy enters but does not leave. It can have tendrils or streamers that attach to various points in the body and are associated with discomfort at the connection point.

When this energy pattern is starved out, it is first disconnected and then “ignored out of existence”. To do so, we have to replace it with other (positive) energy that is naturally supplied by the True Self. This feels to us like happiness, wholeness, and lightness of being. It simply never occurs to us to have the feelings that we previously associated with that “problem” in our life.

How Can I Experience I Ching Human Technology Myself?
It is possible to experience this energy both in the presence of the I Ching technology or via long distance. Energies are not limited by location. There are many ways that you can take advantage of this technology. For more information, go to the I Ching Services page.
